Privacy Policy
Last updated October 10, 2026
Beta version. This is the plain-language policy for Hearth’s private beta. A lawyer-reviewed version will replace it before Hearth opens to the public, and we will update this page and its date when that happens.
The short version
- We collect what Hearth needs to work: your email to sign you in, the profile you choose, and what you post.
- The notes and to-dos in your Safe stay on your phone. We never receive them.
- We do not sell your data. The beta shows no ads and has no advertising or analytics trackers.
- You can delete your account and data in the app at any time.
What we collect
To sign you in
Your email address. We use it to send you a sign-in code and for nothing else.
Your profile
A display name and @handle, an accent color, and, if you add them, a short bio and a photo.
What you do in Hearth
Your posts (text, a Scripture reference, a caption, and photos), the posts you Lift or save, the people you follow, and your notification settings. If you report a post, block someone or hide a post, we keep that too, so the app can act on it.
Technical logs
Like most services, the providers that run Hearth keep basic technical logs, such as IP address and time, to operate and secure the service.
Hearth does not ask for your location, your contacts or your phone’s advertising identifier.
What stays on your phone
Notes and to-dos in your Safe, and the passkey that locks it, are stored only on your phone. They are not uploaded to our servers, and neither we nor any AI reads them. Because we never have a copy, we cannot recover them if you delete the app or lose your phone.
How we use what we collect
- To run Hearth: sign you in, show your profile and posts to other members, and send notifications you turn on.
- To keep the community safe: we review reports, and new posts may be reviewed before they appear.
- To fix problems and answer the messages you send us.
Who can see it
Your display name, @handle, photo and posts are visible to other Hearth members. Lift counts are shown only to the person who posted, not to anyone else. Your email address is never shown to other members.
Who helps us run Hearth
We use a few providers, and each handles your information only to provide its service:
- Supabase for the database, sign-in and photo storage. Data is stored in the United States.
- Resend to deliver your sign-in emails.
- Vercel to host this website. This site sets no cookies and has no analytics.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone from serious harm.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account information while your account exists. To delete it, open Settings in the app and choose Delete account & data. This permanently deletes your profile, posts, Lifts, saves and photos from our servers, and clears the Hearth notes on that phone.
Your choices
- Edit your profile, or turn notifications on and off, in the app.
- Block or report anyone from the ••• menu on a post.
- Ask us a privacy question, or ask for your data, at hello@hearthqiw.online.
Children
Hearth is for people 13 and older, and the app asks you to confirm your age when you sign up. If we learn that someone under 13 has an account, we will delete it.
Security
We use encrypted connections and access rules that keep each member’s private data private. No service can promise perfect security, so please choose your passkey carefully and keep your phone locked.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above, and tell you in the app when the change matters.
